Notice: With all the new administrative staff coming in, I think it's about time we put an actual explanation here. This is long, long overdue.

To put it bluntly, we no longer possess SCP-001's file. It was wiped from the database over fifteen years ago after nearly 70% of our DEEPWELL information-sites were wiped clean by the Insurgency, along with over 90% of Site-01's internal database, thanks to a series of devastating digital attacks. We have since heavily fortified our information storage systems, but the damage done on that day still affects us.

Not a single individual has been able to describe SCP-001 since, due to an in-built security measure that automatically amnesticized you when you closed the file. Even I don't remember what it is, or was. Since that day, we've been focusing our resources on retrieving that file, whether that be accomplished by finding an ancient backup, or running in guns-blazing on all the Insurgency data-centers we can find.

We even tried to find it using SCP-2000. As far as we know, that was unsuccessful.

The crux of the matter is that the Foundation has turned over every possible stone in order to obtain SCP-001 again. We might've even ended the world to do so. But every time, we've been unsuccessful. I can't even begin to tell you how many crucial resources we've wasted trying to accomplish this goal.

That is why, as of 05/23/2029, I am shutting down the operation entirely, with the help of some high-ranking friends. I seem to be the only member of the Council with some sense. It pains me to know that after fifteen years, we are still throwing away over a trillion dollars a month on this ridiculous project. It's about time we start using that money for good, and move away from this tired old nonsense. It's time we do our job.

Secure, Contain, Protect.
