Description

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Video retail stores within the United States are to be monitored for SCP-XXXX manifestations. Manifestations are to be contained by MTF-Tau-12 ("Feature Presentation") who are to prevent civilian knowledge of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-1 are to not be engaged with as to prevent injuries to personnel. Businesses affected by SCP-XXXX are to be reimbursed to prevent exterior investigations. The cause of SCP-XXXX related destruction is to be cited as various construction faults.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the S.S. El Faro, a cargo ship that was thought to have previously disappeared, that spontaneously manifests within video retail stores. All SCP-XXXX manifestations have occurred when the store is closed and not being directly observed. No SCP-XXXX manifestations have been reported outside of the United States. Due to the size of SCP-XXXX, manifestation often causes significant structural damage to the store it appears within.

SCP-XXXX-1 is the collective designation for five luminescent entities that appear onboard SCP-XXXX during its manifestation. SCP-XXXX-1 are visually identical to characters in the show Scooby Doo, specifically the five protagonists of the show. SCP-XXXX-1’s speech patterns and mannerisms have been found nearly identical to the characters, with SCP-XXXX-1E possessing human speech through unknown means. In addition to their corresponding clothing, SCP-XXXX-1 have been observed to wear stereotypical pirate garb including tricorn hats, eyepatches, and large black boots. SCP-XXXX-1 are also equipped with stereotypical pirate weapons, such as a cutlass and blunderbuss.

Once SCP-XXXX has manifested, SCP-XXXX-1 will emerge from the ship and begin to scavenge the store’s wreckage for intact store products. Items commonly stolen by SCP-XXXX-1 are small items such as DVDs and VHS tapes, although the theft of larger devices such as televisions has been recorded. Despite this nature, SCP-XXXX appears to actively avoid mechanical items such as cash registers. SCP-XXXX-1 typically avoid conflict during excursions from SCP-XXXX, and will actively retreat from Foundation personnel to continue looting in a separate area of the store. In addition, SCP-XXXX-1 appear to have an unnatural effect on probability, causing actions or objects that would cause SCP-XXXX-1 harm to be nullified or removed in some form. Projectiles fired at SCP-XXXX-1 instances will be easily dodged by the entities, while explosives will fail to detonate.

Once SCP-XXXX-1 have concluded their theft, SCP-XXXX-1 will then board SCP-XXXX with their stolen items. SCP-XXXX will then demanifest along with all object onboard. Personnel aboard SCP-XXXX during demanifestation have not appeared during subsequent appearances of SCP-XXXX.

Addendum: During the testing of an SCP-XXXX manifestation, MTF-Tau-12 ("Feature Presentation") were able to board the ship, retrieve the ship's black box, and return without causing an altercation with SCP-XXXX-1. Relevant transcripts from the day of the S.S. El Faro's disappearance have been included below.

TRANSCRIPT-XXXX

Foreword: The following are the crew members present in this log:

John Stephenson — Captain

Jim Rivets — First Mate

Gibby "Gibs" Norton (mention) — Second Mate

Cyrus Wheatley — Chief Engineer

Marcie Fleach — Custodial, Chief Chef

[BEGIN LOG, EXTRANEOUS DIALOGUE REMOVED]

Stephenson: This ship can't handle this hurricane, sure as hell wouldn’t handle Alaska.

Rivets: I’m just happy we’ll be off this metal dinghy in a few hours.

(A loud metallic clang can be heard in the distance)

Stephenson: Hell was that? (Into radio) Gibs, what was that?

(Silence.)

Stephenson: He's taking a damn smoke break again. Rivets, go see the trouble.

Rivets: Alright. (Mumbling.)

(Rivets is heard walking for a period of time, occasionally calling out without a response.)

(Muffled clanging is heard.)

Wheatley: I heard some banging from one if the holds. Think some of the cargo came loose.

Rivets: I told you it wasn’t secured enough, but nooooo.

Stephenson: Cyrus, check it out. Make sure nothing’s damaged.

Wheatley: Got it.

(Wheatley is heard walking down a metal staircase before stopping.)

Wheatley: Hey, uh, Captain? I think I hear voices from hold C3.

Stephenson: (Sighs) I was afraid of this. Check it out and make announce your presence so you don’t get shot. If we’re lucky, it’ll just be some loose cargo.

(Wheatley is heard slowly walking before stopping. The sound of a gun being drawn is heard.)

Wheatley: (Knocks on the door) Identify yourself immediately. I have a firearm and I don’t want to hurt you. If you come quietly, it will be much easier if both of us.

(A muffled shout is heard from within the hold, followed by movement.)

Wheatley: Captain, I’m heading in.

Stephenson: Be careful. Rivets, head down to the hold. Cyrus might need backup.

Rivets: Already on my way.

(Wheatley is heard pulling open the door, followed by a loud metal bang and shouting.)

SCP-XXXX-1D: Like, we got one! Quick Scoob, floor it!

(Rapid footsteps are heard going down the hall.)

Wheatley: Oh fuck! Goddamnit, goddamnit, god that hurts.

Stephenson: Cyrus, are you alright? We heard a loud bang from your position.

Wheatley: We’ve got stowaways and they’re somewhere on the ship. Fuckers threw a DVD player at my face and booked it down the hallway.

Stephenson: What did they look like?

Wheatley: Some guy in a green shirt wearing a shitty pirate costume and a goddamn dog.

Rivets: Wait, a dog?

Wheatley: Yes a dog. Big brown one.

(Rivets is heard running down a metal staircase before reaching Wheatley)

Wheatley: Help me up, I think they broke my nose.

Rivets: C’mon, let's get you to the infirm.

(Rivets and Wheatley are heard walking up the staircase and across the deck.)

Fleach: Hey, what’s going on right now? I thought we weren’t going out on deck before the ship has docked?

Stephenson: Nobody is.

Fleach: Well somebody is. I’ve been hearing banging out there for the past 20 minutes.

Stephenson: (Mumbled) Goddamnit. Rivets, what’s your position?

Rivets: Walking to the infirm with Cyrus. He got his nose busted up real bad.

Stephenson: Take a quick check around the main deck once you do. Make sure to stay between the containers.

Cyrus: I’ll be fine, you head on over now.

Rivets: Are you sure?

Cyrus: It’s just my nose, I can walk just fine.

Stephenson: And Rivets?

Rivets: Yes?

Stephenson: Be careful.

(Rivets is heard walking across the metal deck. Loud winds and splashing are heard, slightly muffling audio.)

Rivets: Where about was the banging?

Fleach: Down by the new shipment. Lots of repeated slams, like something was banging against one of the containers.

(Rivets continues walking.)

Rivets: What the hell i-

Unknown Voice: Now!

(The sound of ropes being pulled is heard. Rivets begins to yell.)
———————————

Wheatley: Guys! We're being boarded!

Stephenson: What? Still pirates out here?

Wheatley: Guys it-

(SCP-XXXX-1 can be heard running towards the crew.)

SCP-XXXX-1D: Zoinks! Like, ghostly pirates man!

SCP-XXXX-1A: Get em gang!

Rivets: What the fuck-

(Rivets is interrupted by SCP-XXXX-1B presumably kicking him in the face. A loud crash can be heard in the water below.)

SCP-XXXX-1B: Jeepers, didn't mean to hit you so hard ghost pirate!

(A soft clattering sound is heard.)

SCP-XXXX-1C: My glasses! (Shuffling can be heard.) Where are my glasses?

Fleach: What is the ruckus up here?

(The sounds of ropes rapidly moving can be heard.)

Fleach: Fuck! What the- a net? Let me out of- Fuck is going on here?

SCP-XXXX-1B: Fred! You're net trap!

SCP-XXXX-1A: Ah nice, Where is your ghost captain, pirate?

Stephenson: I'm right here you fucks! (A gun can be heard loading.)

Wheatley: This is… Hot Dog Water, what you putting in the food?

Fleach: Fuckin-

Wheatley: Oh sh-

(Wheatley is heard stumbling into SCP-XXXX-1B. A loud crash can be heard in the water below.)

SCP-XXXX-1C: Oup! Found them! (Pause.) Uh oh, looks like another one's gone!

Stephenson: Wheatley! Dammit, get the fuck back, get back!

(SCP-XXXX-1D and E can be heard exiting from the mess hall. As they do, they bump into Stephenson. The sounds of ropes rapidly moving can be heard, along with loud concrete thud, Stephenson ceases speaking.)

SCP-XXXX-1A: Always set up two nets!

SCP-XXXX-1C: Let's see who's really the ghost pirate captain!

(Sounds of grunting and exasperation can be heard for several seconds.)

Fleach: What the fuck are you doing! John! John? Fuck, oh fuck he's gone. What are you doing to his face?

SCP-XXXX-1C: Guys, I don't think this is mask.

SCP-XXXX-1A: Well if the ghost pirate captain isn't on this ship, where is he?

SCP-XXXX-1B: Jeepers Fred, who knows!

SCP-XXXX-1A: We better go find the pirate captain, and we have the boat right here to do it! And the only way to find ghost pirates, is to act like ghost pirates.

SCP-XXXX-1B: But Fred, what do pirates even do?

SCP-XXXX-1D: Like, steal gold and pillage, Daph!

SCP-XXXX-1E: Rand Videos! Rake Videos!

SCP-XXXX-1A: Than we'll do that, all of it! Shaggy, set us a-sail!

SCP-XXXX-1D: You got it, smooth sailing from here man!

Audio: MAIN BRIDGE

(SCP-XXXX-1D can be heard clattering throughout the bridge.)

SCP-XXXX-1D: Zoinks Scoob, I don't think I can drive this thing man!

SCP-XXXX-1E: Rhut Row.
