Figure 1.1: Provisional Site-119, positioned directly above the hypothesized central point of SCP-XXXX-A along Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles, California.

Special Containment Procedures: Due to SCP-XXXX's location within a major metropolitan area and its relative size, containment is infeasible at the time of writing. As such, Provisional Site-119 has been tasked with monitoring the centralized region of SCP-XXXX, also identified as SCP-XXXX-A, utilizing the front company "Forward Publishing LLC."

Integrated Foundation personnel are responsible for continually monitoring and observing the entirety of SCP-XXXX for indications of spontaneous XXXX/Phenomena Events. All recorded events and/or manifestations are to be documented individually from SCP-XXXX and subsequently reclassified as their own anomalous designation until its correlation with the base anomaly can be proven. Containment of these events and/or manifestations are to be enacted on-site, at the discretion of local Foundation officials.

If containment is impossible or otherwise ill-advised, the neutralization of any anomalies has been authorized. In the event that any neutralized anomaly contains identifiable remains or debris, these are to be stored within Provisional Site-119's mass storage and investigated at a later date.

Figure 1.2: Foundation operative Ben Shapiro, secondary director of Subdivision Alpha (A.K.A. The Daily Wire) and primary project lead of SCP-XXXX.

Update: Because of recent changes regarding SCP-XXXX's containment, the Foundation has approved the creation of Subdivision Alpha, an expansion of the base Provisional Site-119 facility, to assist personnel in further studying and suppressing the anomaly. Subdivision Alpha has been authorized to neutralize all anomalies whenever possible to prevent the likelihood of a containment breach. All inquiries related to topics regarding SCP-XXXX or Subdivision Alpha are to be redirected to either acting primary director Jeremy Boreing or secondary director Ben Shapiro immediately.

Description: SCP-XXXX refers to an accelerated expansion of anomalous and paranormal phenomena or events — similar to the formation of a standard nexus — within the metropolitan area of Los Angeles, California. Such anomalous manifestations, hereby designated as XXXX/Phenomena Events, include:

  • Spontaneous transfiguration of human victims into hostile non-natural organisms.
  • Complete possession by unknown, malicious demonic or spiritual entities, often altering the physical appearance and mental stability of affected victims.
  • Manifestations of ethereal, physical, or otherwise anomalous beings, collectively referred to as SCP-XXXX-A-0, that can persist for extended periods of time. These are often considered as sightings of "ghosts" or "spirits" by the general public, and should continually be skepticized as such by Foundation personnel until proper amnesticization can be enacted.
  • Random instantaneous translocation of people, structures, or objects within Los Angeles.

SCP-XXXX is centralized within a dense region of anomalous energy 8 km beneath Los Angeles, which has been designated as SCP-XXXX-A respectively. The immediate vicinity of SCP-XXXX-A has also been the source of nearly 60% of SCP-XXXX's anomalous manifestations, with subsequent phenomena being less frequent as distance away increases.

Further analysis of SCP-XXXX-A following multiple excavations has revealed that this region was at one point, self-contained underground. However, due to currently unknown means, the region surrounding SCP-XXXX-A has developed structural deficiencies that allow paranormal energy to escape from it and leak into Los Angeles. All attempts to repair or block the region have been unsuccessful. Future attempts are ill-advised as pressure buildup from SCP-XXXX-A could result in a severe explosion that would guarantee a major loss of life and potentially breach the Veil.

Addendum XXXX-1 — Discovery & Development

Although the rare occurrence of instantaneous anomalous activity is not uncommon and proven under Dr. Robert Olfander's Theory of Equivalent Paranormal Rectification1, the 503 mi2 region encompassing Los Angeles has experienced exponentially growing rates of said phenomena since it was first detected in early 2013.

unitedstates.png

Figure 2.1: Compiled data from the past 20 years showcasing paranormal "hotspots" that supersede Dr. Olfander's Theory. Nearly 96% of these hotspots would dissipate, whilst others only increased in magnitude before either quickly collapsing or stabilizing into nexuses.2 Close investigation of SCP-XXXX has revealed its manifestation directly correlates with other observed hotspots, albeit its likelihood of stabilizing is much more probable. The current reason for this remains unknown.

The underlying reasons behind this occurrence have yet to be ascertained. However, similar situations of collective paranormal energy being centralized within dense populations have led Foundation personnel to assume that SCP-XXXX is another random event and not perpetrated by any individual or malicious group. Further evidence of this has been outlined in Figure 2.1 of this documentation.

By mid-year 2013, SCP-XXXX had been officially designated and Provisional Site-119 was fully operational. Its primary functions revolved around the containment of SCP-XXXX-A-0 instances and observations of SCP-XXXX for any indications of dissipation or nexus stabilization.

Provisional Site-119 was largely successful in its containment of the anomaly until mid-year 2014, in which a report sent to Overwatch Command indicated that SCP-XXXX was becoming increasingly difficult to manage. A summary of this report, which would later be submitted as an official request for aid in decommissioning the anomaly, has been attached below:

Bi-Yearly Report: Provisional Site-119 (Simplified)

Date: 07/01/2014

Current Site Status: Red — High Risk of Security Breach

Initial Statement: Prior to Provisional Site-119's report in December of 2013, SCP-XXXX had been largely considered contained and relatively unimpactful towards the residents of Los Angeles, California. However, with a nearly 166.23% projected increase of expected anomalous manifestations arising between then and June of 2014, Provisional Site-119 has officially declared that further containment is infeasible and potentially disastrous to Foundation directives.
