Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: As SCP-XXXX is only known to affect personnel stationed at Site-11, it is effectively self-concealing to civilian populations, and remaining containment is limited to the monitoring of SCP-XXXX-A instances and their responses to SCP-XXXX. Investigations into the root cause of SCP-XXXX, as well as real life equivalents of locations seen in it, are currently underway.

Data from Site-11's Bloom program1 is to be analyzed for possible instances of SCP-XXXX manifestation among staff. Personnel below Level 3 Clearance are not to be made aware of SCP-XXXX until further notice.

Addendum XXXX.#: Following a surge of depressive episodes and self-destructive behavior among Site personnel in 1998, a Foundation mental wellness program by the name of Bloom was established to boost morale, and discover and treat mental issues among staff. Implemented in 1999, it has proven extremely helpful to personnel since. In 2015, management of most of the program was handed over to the Foundation's mental health assistant artificial intelligence sophie.aic.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a recurring dream experienced by approximately 0.7% of personnel stationed at Site-11, with affected personnel being referred to as SCP-XXXX-A. The first reports of SCP-XXXX experiences appeared in early July of 1979 and have continued somewhat2 uninterrupted since. Despite the large number of civilian staff employed at Site-11, no cases of SCP-XXXX affecting any civilians have been documented.

All SCP-XXXX-A instances have experienced some type of emotional or psychological trauma during their early to middle life; this the sole common quality that has been identified among all instances.

While details of SCP-XXXX vary from case to case, the general progression of SCP-XXXX remains generally uniform between reports.

As the dream begins, the subject will find themselves standing on a steep hill under a deciduous canopy; descriptions of the flora present indicate that SCP-XXXX occurs sometime in late spring or early summer, though instances will occasionally describe a barren, winter-like setting. The subject will then notice they are on a worn path, and an entity3 will manifest at the bottom of the hill and begin to menacingly pursue the subject down the path. Once the subject has fled the entity for a variable amount of time, the forest will end, the entity will cease pursuit, and SCP-XXXX-A will come across a small settlement.

All instances' descriptions of the area invariably depict a seaside settlement consisting of twelve houses, a marketplace, a small gothic cathedral, and a distant lighthouse located on a seastack approximately 100 meters off the shore. All structures possess blue and white coloring.

SCP-XXXX-A have described feelings of deja vu and nostalgia, will and proceed to wander the town as though searching for someone. Inhabitants of the town appear as humanoids of indeterminate ethnicity wearing clothes consistent with 1950s American fashion trends. These entities will group into family units4 and can be seen milling about and socializing in the marketplace and typically; inhabitants will smile if approached, but will not engage the subject otherwise.

The subject will continue through the marketplace and approach the shore, where a small dock is present. A rowboat is moored, and an unremarkable figure can be seen sitting in the boat. Upon seeing the subject, the figure will nod and SCP-XXXX-A will board the boat. The figure will untie the boat's bindings, and depart in the direction of the lighthouse.
