SCP-682 shortly after escaping from containment, still recovering from acid immersion.

Item #: SCP-682

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-682 must be destroyed as soon as possible. Currently there are no known means by which SCP-682 may be destroyed; however, it can be severely damaged by way of a variety of conventional methods. As such, SCP-682 should be contained within an Immobile-variant KRONOS-class High-Intensity Containment Chamber equipped with 25cm reinforced acid-resistant steel plate covering all interior surfaces.

In order to maintain containment of SCP-682, the containment chamber should be capable of being quickly flooded with 99.995% pure hydrofluoric acid1 until SCP-682 is submerged and incapacitated. Any attempt by SCP-682 to move, speak, or breach containment should be reacted to quickly and with all appropriate force. The containment chamber is only to be emptied for testing purposes, or to facilitate termination attempts.

Due to its frequent attempts to breach containment, difficulty of containment, and high threat of exposure should it manage to escape, SCP-682 is to be contained in Deepwell Site-███. The Foundation will use the best of its resources to maintain all land within fifty kilometers clear of human development.

Under no circumstances are any unauthorized personnel permitted to communicate or interact with SCP-682 in any way.

Description: SCP-682 is a large, vaguely reptilian polymorphic entity of unknown origin. SCP-682 displays an advanced intelligence, being capable2 of communication with Foundation staff members3. SCP-682's primary motivator for its exceedingly violent behaviour appears to be an intense hatred for all life4, which has been expressed in several interviews during containment. (See Addendum 682-B).

SCP-682 has always been observed to have extremely high strength, speed, and reflexes, though exact levels vary with its form. SCP-682's physical body grows and changes very quickly, increasing or decreasing in size as it consumes or sheds biomass. SCP-682 has a unique metabolism which allows it to utilize energy from anything it ingests, organic or inorganic. Digestion seems to be aided by a set of filtering gills inside of SCP-682's nostrils, which are able to remove usable matter from any liquid solution, enabling it to constantly regenerate from the acid it is contained in. SCP-682's regenerative capabilities and resilience are considerable; SCP-682 has been observed moving and speaking with up to 87% of its body destroyed.

In the event of a containment breach, SCP-682 is to be tracked by all available Mobile Task Forces and re-captured, though no teams with fewer than seven members are permitted to engage it alone. To date (██-██-████), attempted breaches have numbered at twenty-nine, while successful breaches have numbered at six. (See Addendum 682.2).

Dr. Garret: Now, I need to know why you killed those farmers?

SCP-682: (No verbal communication)

Dr. Garret: SCP-682, you're being directed to respond. If you don't answer me now, we'll be forced to take additional action and place you back into-

SCP-682: (Incomprehensible)

Dr. Garret: Pardon? (Motions to D-085 to move the microphone closer)

SCP-682: (Incomprehensible)

Dr. Garret: Speak up. (To Personnel D-085) Get the mic up in there, I can't-

SCP-682: …they were- (incomprehensible)

Dr. Garret: (To D-085) That microphone has only so much gain, get it closer!

D-085: His throat's messed up man, look at it! He ain't talking- (Gasps and screams)

(The sound of violent thrashing and screaming for several seconds, followed by thick, wet, crunching sounds.)

SCP-682: (Barely audible through damaged microphone) …they were… disgusting.

Dr. Garret: (Shouting as staff members retreat from observation area)

Addendum 682.2: SCP-682 Containment Breaches

SCP-682 is a powerful, violent, and excessively hostile entity with a seemingly innate disdain for living things. As such, it frequently attempts to breach containment, much more so than any other actively contained entity. As directed by the Foundation Records and Information Security Administration, the following is a record of successful breaches of containment by SCP-682. Names and some dates have been removed, per RAISA policy.

1: First Occurrence, ██-██-████: Handled by Agent ███████, Agent ███, Agent ████████ (KIA), Personnel D-129 (KIA), Personnel D-027 (KIA), Personnel D-173 (KIA), Personnel D-200 (KIA), Personnel D-193 (KIA)

2: Second Occurrence, ██-██-████: Handled by Agent ███, Agent ████████████, Dr. ███████, Personnel D-124, Personnel D-137 (KIA), Personnel D-201 (KIA), Personnel D-202 (KIA), Personnel D-203 (KIA)

3: Third Occurrence, ██-██-████: Handled by Agent ███████, MSgt █████████, Agent ████████, Agent ██████ (KIA), Personnel D-018 (KIA), Personnel D-211 (KIA), Personnel D-216

4: Fourth Occurrence, ██-██-████: Handled by Mobile Task Force Gamma-22 "Star Warriors" (17 casualties, 3 KIA).

5: Fifth Occurrence, ██-██-████: Handled by Mobile Task Force Ion-91 "Boy Scouts" (12 casualties, 5 KIA).

6: Sixth Occurrence, ██-██-████: Handled by Mobile Task Force Alpha-43 "The Wild Stallions" (18 casualties, 4 KIA, 1 MIA).

Addendum 682.3: Termination Attempts

With approval of the Ethics Committee, Containment Committee, Memetics Research Division and Site Director’s Council, the SCP-682 research team has been ordered to begin scaling up termination testing of the SCP-682 entity.

Further inquiries into this decision should be directed to the Deepwell Site-███ Commanding Director.

-Dr. █████

Log of event 682-E18: Dr. █████ attempts to use SCP-409 on SCP-682. General ███, General ██████, and Dr. ██████████ observing.

0400: Exposure. SCP-682 began to tear at the point of contact, causing massive trauma to the area. SCP-682 requests several times to know what it has been exposed to.

0856: Crystallization begins, spreading much slower than normal. SCP-682’s flesh appears to be darkening beneath the crystallized areas. SCP-682’s eyes, mouth, and other exposed orifices begin to calcify.

1218: SCP-682 continues to show signs of extreme distress, and begins seizing. Hardened scales form over the calcified areas. The seizing causes non-essential portions of SCP-682’s body to slough off.

1325: Crystallization stops at 62% conversion. Crystallized area explodes, causing massive physical trauma to SCP-682.

1402: SCP-682 begins to recover from exposure, despite the loss of limbs and organs. Hardened scales fall from orifices revealing fresh, untouched tissue. SCP-682’s non-essential portions rapidly regenerate. Notably, during this process (which takes roughly six minutes) power draw to lights and machines within and near SCP-682’s containment cell is increased considerably.

Termination Log Notes: SCP-682 appears to now be immune to SCP-409. In order to prevent further total resistances to other anomalous means of termination, all termination methods must now first be tested on samples of SCP-682 before full-scale testing.

In accordance with Dr. ████████'s recommendations (see Document 27b-6), Dr. ███████ and Dr. █████ have requested permission to attempt the termination of SCP-682 using SCP-689. The request is currently pending approval from the ████████.

It has also been suggested by Dr. Gears to use SCP-182 in an attempt to communicate with SCP-682. SCP-182 has expressed reluctance to do so, and refuses to enter SCP-682's containment cell.

Additionally, six staff members were admitted to the infirmary at the conclusion of this test, each showing signs of advanced exhaustion. How this is related to the test itself is the subject of ongoing research.
