Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: Seeds for SCP-XXXX are to be stored in a standard cryogenic unit rated rated for long-term seed preservation. Should seeds approach the date at which they would no longer viable, a crop of SCP-XXXX is to be grown in an environmentally sealed unit for the purposes of harvesting new seeds.

Should any specimens of SCP-XXXX be discovered outside of containment, they are to be destroyed immediately.

All hardware relating to SCP-XXXX is to be housed in standard large object storage units in their inactive states.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a process through which anomalous cultivars of common crops can be created, developed by the Pentagram1. This process was used to create two known crops, SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2.

SCP-XXXX-1 is a cultivar of wheat developed for use as a weapon during the cold war. SCP-XXXX-1 possess two primary anomalous properties. First, when planted in proximity to non-anomalous varieties of wheat, SCP-XXXX-1 releases a herbicidal compound during the early stages of its growth. This herbicide significantly impedes the growth of other plants, allowing SCP-XXXX-1 to become the dominant variety of wheat in the area; SCP-XXXX-1 itself is resistant to the compound released.

Secondly, when SCP-XXXX-1 is milled the resulting flour is highly explosive. A given amount of flour from SCP-XXXX-1 is roughly equivalent to the same weight in TNT, and is highly volatile; it can be detonated simply by impacting it with sufficient force.

Additionally, SCP-XXXX-1 is able to reproduce with any non-anomalous variety of wheat, and the resultant offspring will always posses the same anomalous properties. SCP-XXXX-1 was ultimately never used by the Pentagram due to the risk of it finding its way back into United States wheat fields.
