Someone Else

SCP-XXXX-1, pre-containment.

Item #: SCP-XXXX-N

Object Class: Keter Neutralized

Special Containment Procedures (Archived): Provisional Site-12 has been built around SCP-XXXX-1. Site-12 must always have at least 20 D-Class personnel present, in order to negate the effects of SCP-XXXX-2 and prevent an exterior breach.

Upon manifestation of SCP-XXXX-2, one D-Class personnel must be sent into the object. Reports and historical documentation are to be constantly monitored for the mentions of individuals resembling D-Class personnel.

Description (Archived): SCP-XXXX-1 is a pair of 200-meter train tracks located in Seattle, Washington. SCP-XXXX-1 is disconnected from any other railways.

SCP-XXXX-2 is a train coach that manifests on SCP-XXXX-1 every night at 12:00 A.M. Little of the interior is visible from outside the coach, due to curtains hung in all the windows.

SCP-XXXX-2 will remain inert until a human being enters it, whereupon it will remain stationary for two minutes before it begins to move along SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-2 will continue moving until shortly before it reaches the tracks' end, where it will vanish.

Within one hour of its manifestation, a human will invariably enter SCP-XXXX-2. No security measures imposed have been able to prevent this aside from assigning individuals within the site to enter SCP-XXXX-2 upon manifestation.

The state of individuals who enter SCP-XXXX-2 is unknown. Any individual who enters SCP-XXXX-2 will spontaneously reappear at a random place and time on Earth1. Individuals who have entered SCP-XXXX-2 claim to have no memory of their time within SCP-XXXX-2. It is possible to record audio and video within SCP-XXXX-2, but any such data bears similar antimemetic properties, and cannot be recalled by human beings after reading or listening. The only detail that can be recalled from computer analysis of relevant logs is that all logs are identical. See Addendum XXXX.3.

Addendum XXXX.1: On 09/16/2012, an individual identical to D-Class personnel D-0839 manifested in the town of Prescott, Arizona, and was witnessed by a small group of people. Notably, D-0839 was scheduled for SCP-XXXX assignment two days after his manifestation, and was still at Site-12 during the incident.

Interviewer: Hello, D-0839.

D-0839: [Nods.]

Interviewer: Could you give me any information on your time within SCP-XXXX-2?

D-0839: [Shakes head.]

Interviewer: I see. Why are you unwilling to discuss it?

D-0839: I don't remember it.

Interviewer: Interesting. Do you know why-

D-0839: Take me back.

Interviewer: Sorry?

D-0839: Take me back. Please.

Interviewer: I don't understand. Do you want to be taken back to SCP-XXXX-2?

D-0839: I don't need to. I need to go back to where you found me.

Interviewer: In Prescott?

D-0839: [Nods.]

Interviewer: Why do you need to go back?

D-0839: It's where I have to be.

Interviewer: Are you able to provide us with any more information regarding SCP-XXXX?

D-0839: No.

Interviewer: I see. Well, I'm afraid this interview is-

D-0839: Why can't you take me back?

Interviewer: There's no reason to do so.

D-0839: It's where I need to be. It's wrong of me to not be there.

Interviewer: This interview is over.

Further investigation revealed multiple accounts throughout history of individuals matching the description of D-Class personnel appearing at various points in time. Containment procedures were revised in order to counteract this.

Addendum XXXX.2: Following the discovery of SCP-XXXX's temporal properties, D-Class assigned to SCP-XXXX were provided with video recording devices, in order to investigate SCP-XXXX-2's interior. Only eight of these recordings were recovered, with only three D-Class found alive to be debriefed. The antimemetic properties of SCP-XXXX-2's interior were determined from these interactions, as well as the properties of recovered logs.

All recovered logs are identical, according to bot analysis, but no other data can be determined from them. A copy of the logs is attached below, although personnel will not be able to remember its contents.

Hello, my child.

You don't need to speak. I already know.

I have a favor to ask of you. You need not take it.

The world is a sinful place, though that does not make it terrible. It was by design, after all.

But the world needs saving from its sins, or it will be destroyed.

You can save it. All you need to do is take this, and you will be reborn.

You must understand the burden you will take.

I know. It is painful. Which is why you need not do as I ask. Someone else can always do so.

I understand. Do not be afraid, I am not disappointed in you.

Come, I will take you where you need to be.

Addendum XXXX.3: On 02/18/2019, SCP-XXXX-2 ceased manifesting upon SCP-XXXX-1. Site-12 continued monitoring SCP-XXXX-1 for two months, before SCP-XXXX was declared effectively neutralized. Site-12 remains in operation in case SCP-XXXX-2 reappears unexpectedly, and Foundation personnel are continuing to monitor for the appearances of D-Class personnel. Site-12 was redesignated as a standard Safe-class object containment site.

Addendum XXXX.4: During an archaeological dig in the city of Bethlehem, one of the video recording devices utilized by the Foundation was found by civilian researchers with a pile of potsherds. Foundation forces were able to successfully cover up the discovery before word could reach media outlets.

Analysis of the recording revealed that it bore some differences to previous recordings from SCP-XXXX-2. The recording was found to be from the final D-Class personnel sent into SCP-XXXX-2 before it ceased manifestation. A log is attached below:

Hello, my son.

You don't need to speak. I already know your answer.

I have a favor to ask of you. You need not take it, but you will.

You understand the world, that it needs saving. You will be reborn.

You understand the burden you will take. Someone else can always take it.

I know. It is painful. Do not be afraid.

I am proud of you.

Go forth, and lead.

Archaeological dating of the device determined it to likely originate from around the end of the first century BCE. and determined that the recording device had been present in Bethlehem for approximately 2,000 years.,_March_6,_1911_(SEATTLE_1561).jpg
