The Grey Peasant

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained in a standard humanoid containment chamber. Objects related to nobility or royalty, however tenously, should not be introduced to SCP-XXXX outside of scheduled testing conditions. SCP-XXXX is allowed to request recreational items contingent on good behavior and compliance with weekly medical testing.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an East Asian male humanoid in their mid thirties. SCP-XXX skin is a deep gray tone in colour, as is its blood. Testing has shown that samples of both are genetically identical to human samples despite the variation. Vivisection of SCP-XXXX has been denied by orders of the Ethics Committee.

Objects related to a non-fictional monarch or their monarchies within a 10-15 meter radius of SCP-XXXX undergo advanced deterioration consistent with old age. In the case of materials such as gold or platinum, objects appear to lose their noble metal status, quickly gaining rust. Concentration of SCP-XXXX on the object in question appears to have a marginal effect, slowing or advancing deterioration by roughly ten percent.

The rate of deterioration appears to strengthen with the stronger connection to a monarch, with personal objects like clothing or crowns decaying in seconds. Objects once related to monarchies that have since been turned over to their successive governments (for example, public property in Great Britain), undergo no deterioration.

SCP-XXXX claims to have a similar, albeit vastly more violent effect on monarchs themselves. A method of testing this effect without a severe breach of normalcy has currently not been found.

Discovery: SCP-XXXX was recovered in England on 08/12/20██, after footage of a figure rusting the fencing surrounding Buckingham Palace was posted on Youtube. MI-6661 agents located the anomaly and detained him at a location undisclosed to the Foundation.

However, its anomalous properties were found to make long term containment unsuitable at their facilities. The Foundation was contacted and containment of the anomaly was transferred over.

Interviewed: SCP-XXXX

Interviewer: Dr Lamark

Foreword: Interview was conducted two weeks after initial recovery, shortly after its first medical exam.

<Begin Log, [optional time info]>
Dr Lamark:: Good morning SCP-XXXX. How are the books we gave you?

SCP-XXXX: Eh, they're alright. Already read through them a lot. Can I get some new ones? Always wanted to try Harry Potter.
Dr Lamark: I'll see what I can do. I wanted to ask you about the experiments again, now that you've had time to… get acclimated.

SCP-XXXX: Sure, why not. You want me to start there or when they nabbed me?

Dr Lamark: At the very beginning, please.

SCP-XXXX: Alright, I was heading back to my spot under the bridge. Was kinda hungry, not really a lot of change thrown my way, so thought I'd just try tomorrow. I wake up, and then I'm in some sort of warehouse with these guys. They tell me I'm gonna change the world or whatever, and then give me a room.

Dr Lamark: I see. What type of experiments did they conduct on you? Did they use surgery, or machines, or a type of ritual?

SCP-XXXX: Wait, rituals like all that magic shit? Magic's real?

Dr Lamark: Answer the question please.

SCP-XXXX: Alright, alright. I don't really know, they just gave me a lot of things to drink and stuff.

Dr Lamark: Do you know what these experiments were meant to do?

SCP-XXXX: Uh one of them explained it to me like… hey, you know those battles and stuff in roman times? Then the guy would put his thumb down at the end if the loser was gonna end up dead?

Dr Lamark: What does this have to do with the experiments?

SCP-XXXX: Basically they said it was something like if you could stick your thumb down at someone, and the dude ends up dead. First they were gonna turn me into the thumb, then they were gonna try and link up that sort of idea or something to me.

Dr Lamark: So they were making a living embodiment of a concept or ideal… Interesting.

SCP-XXXX: Yeah, that's what they said. Or at least what they were trying to do. They kinda stopped looking happy later with the experiments and shit. Started talking about finding some other guinea pigs.

Dr Lamark: And that's when you found yourself back under the bridge.

SCP-XXXX: Yup. Woke up one day and found myself back like nothing ever happened. 'cept I still looked like this freak. Then those spooks got me, and now I'm here. Is that it?

Dr Lamark: Almost. When you were with this group, did you recall hearing any names or titles, anything we could use to identify themselves?

SCP-XXXX: Uh… I think they called themselves the Children? Or was it the seven children… something like that. There was a lot more than seven of them, had to be like thirty or forty. Called each other brother and sister all the time. Honestly, they were kinda nuts.

Dr Lamark: What makes you say that?

SCP-XXXX: They wanted me to kill some king. Didn't say who, they were weird about that. kept calling him red for some dumb reason.

Dr Lamark: Wait, red? Did they happen to call him the Scarlet King?

SCP-XXXX: Yeah, that's it! You know him or something?

Dr Lamark: You could say that. Thank your for your assistance today, you've been of great help to us. A guard will take you back to your cell.
