The Jeepers Creeper

Item Number SCP-$:

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Operatives working in the health care industry, and those specifically embedded within the Association of Optical Practitioners are to monitor for unregistered cases of SCP-% and log them appropriately. Cases which are discovered in residents outside of Indiana must be raised to the attention of High Command, as it may indicate a resumption of SCP-$ activity. Amorphous Entity Requisition Operatives are to be deployed in the pursuit and capture of SCP-$; rules of engagement regarding the entity are to be revised according to AERO specifications.

The symptoms of SCP-% infection have been determined by medical practitioners to be the result of excessive television consumption, with the physical sensation of SCP-% undulations credited as merely a psychosomatic response to their presence within the vitreous humor. There are no plans to contradict or complicate this narrative with further misinformation.

To prevent the leak of confidential data, personnel within our organization found to be infected by SCP-$ are to have their optic nerves severed, or have their employment terminated. Blinded personnel may elect to have their eyes surgically removed if they continue to experience uncomfortable sensations due to SCP-%. All operatives augmented in this manner shall be transferred to the newly-formed Mobile Task Force Eta-5 ("See No Evil").

Description: SCP-$ is a quasi-parasitic entity of unclear biology which targets and exclusively inhabits optometrists. It fully assumes its host's identity and social roles, gaining access to their cognitive functions, memory, and personality. Interviews with friends and family of past hosts has shown that none of them were privy to any changes in the host's mannerisms or routines, and were unaware of any improper or immoral behavior. It should be noted that all persons (spouse, children, etc) living with an SCP-$ host were tested and found to be infected by SCP-%.

The entity targets optometrists as to gain access to their patients, using their practice as a front for its activities. An opportunistic predator, it only strikes when it is alone with its victim. SCP-$ uses a pointed, prehensile extension of its main body which it will extend from within its host's throat to strike the patient. This appendage is loaded with an amnesiac compound which induces a lethargic, suggestive state in victims.

SCP-$'s goal in these attacks appear to be purely for the purpose of sexual gratification. It will use these sessions to touch and caress the victim's eyes, which it fetishizes obsessively. This involves the careful removal of each eye from the orbital socket such that they could be taken into the mouth of SCP-$'s host. This will continue until climax, and the secretion of a translucent fluid into the victim's exposed orbit.

Henceforth, victims will experience a pronounced increase of the presence of 'eye-floaters' — which are, in fact, fibers which contain genetic material from SCP-$. In rare cases, they can be ever-present, and astute observers will be able to discern slight movements that would set these apart from mundane aberrations in one's vision. One in five victims report physical sensations from the movement of SCP-% within the vitreous humor.

SCP-$ possesses the ability to visually perceive the world through its victims. Since its discovery and first attempt at apprehension, it has thus far avoided transferring to someone within two degrees of separation from its current host. It is believed this behavior is intended to thwart our efforts to locate it, as it possesses extensive knowledge of the Foundation and our operations in the Midwest.

Discovery: SCP-$, in the guise of Alphonso Kaufman, was first investigated by law enforcement officials following his arrest after being violently assaulted by a parent of a victim. The father overheard SCP-$'s interactions with his teenage son during what was supposed to have been a routine examination and broke into the room to confront it. Both were detained and remanded to Fulton County Jail, which SCP-$ escaped overnight. SCP-$ fled to the residence of Mr Kaufman and started a fire in both the kitchen and bedroom before disappearing.

The blaze was subdued. A search by police uncovered four jars containing human eyes suspended in a preservative solution, several textbooks on ocular anatomy (several pages containing illustrations and diagrams were found to be plastered together), and over two-thousand photographs of human eyes presumably taken during sessions with its victims hidden underneath its bed.

News coverage regarding the strange details of the case was then flagged and investigated. Kaufman was provisionally given an SCP designation, and plants within the FBI were deployed to assist in the search for his whereabouts.

Several days passed with no new developments, until a local youth discovered human remains beneath the East Eerie Railroad overpass, which were proven to be those of Mr Kaufman. The remains consisted of a hollow epidermal layer, alongside fragmented sections of the nervous and cardiovascular systems. With the exception of his eyes, all sensory organs were accounted for. As such, the official statement released to the public categorized Mr. Kaufman's death as trauma caused by disembowelment. News outlets characterized this revelation as evidence of a murder perpetrated by an assault victim of Mr. Kaufman, or a relative thereof.

The body was taken to a nearby Site for study. A simulacra was created to take its place at the local morgue.
